Tattoo FAQ
How do I get a tattoo appointment?
In order to score that elusive and ever so rare tattoo appointment with Chris, you need only fill out the Tattoo Request Form. It’s really not a big deal. Enter the data, send the form, be honest, be patient, and above all…pray. Pray to the gods Chris isn’t busy!
How much does a tattoo cost?
The cost of your tattoo will be determined at your consultation.
How do you calculate the cost of a tattoo?
Generally the cost of a tattoo is calculated via the following variables: the size of the tattoo, the placement (where you want the tattoo on your body), design complexity (whether it is tattoo flash, your design, custom design, realism, solid color, etc), tattoo artist (how amazing they are).
Will I have a consultation first?
Yes, all tattoo clients must first receive a consultation before their tattoo is approved and I accept a desposit. This is where we discuss the tattoo design, that tattoo session appointment data & time, the cost of the tattoo, duration of the tattoo session, etc.
Do you do piercings?
I don’t think so.
Is there a deposit or booking fee?…and how much is it?
My deposit is a flat fee of $200.
Is the deposit refundable?
The deposit is nonrefundable. Please ensure you can honor your appointment.
Are you Hawaiian?
I am from Hawaii, but I am not Hawaiian.
When can I get my tattoo after you take my deposit?
It all depends on my schedule. Generally we will set your tattoo date and time after the consultation and deposit. The reality is…sometimes my books are open, sometimes they’re closed (this is tattoo code, which means I’m either taking appointments or not).
Do you tattoo over scars or birth marks?
I would have to see the scar or birthmark before I could decide.
Do you accept bitcoin?
Yes, but I accept only whole bitcoins. No change.
Do you take walk-ins?
No, I do not. You may get lucky, but I wouldn’t try. Please don’t stalk me.
Does acne, cuts or scars effect my ability to get tattooed?
It is possible to tattoo over a scar, but not all scars are the same. I would need to see the scar and decide. It’s more desirable for both of us if we tattoo clean and undamaged skin. Acne and / or open wounds, cuts or abrasians can make tattooing very difficult, if not impossible. Open wounds can also result in a much higher risk for infection.
Is it normal for my tattoo to scab over or peel off?
Yes, it’s nothing to be alarmed by. Although everyone heals differently, and different tattoos heal differently, it’s perfectly normal for your tattoo to scab or flake.
Will you tattoo my children?
No, but I know a guy
How do I care for my tattoo after it’s finished?
Please read and follow my Tattoo Aftercare master plan. I will wrap and care for your tattoo immediately after we are done. Beyond that, it is your responsibility to follow aftercare instructions the best you possibly can. The healing stage is so very important regarding the final look of your tattoo.
Can I get my tattoo wet after it’s done?
Please do your loved ones a favor by continuing to shower regularly after your tattoo. Do not soak in a bathtub or swim in chlorine for a minimum of 2 weeks after your bandage comes off. It’s best to avoid swimming, surfing, salt water, or soaking your tattoo for prolonged periods. You can shower. You can get it wet, just make sure and pat it dry immediately after.
Can I go in the sun after my tattoo is finished?
Going in the sun after a tattoo is risky, so please do your best to cover it or apply sunblock
Should I tip my tattoo artist?…and how much?
Just as you would tip your waitstaff or masseuse for their services, most agree that an acceptable tip for a tattoo artist is anywhere from 15%-25%. While tipping isn’t necessary, it is greatly appreciated.
What should I wear for my tattoo session?
Wear anything you are comfortable wearing in a chair for a few hours. That doesn’t include birthday suites.
Do you tattoo lettering?…and if so, do you have spellcheck?
I highly recommend to all my clients to not add lettering to their tattoos. We can compromise and maybe hide them inside of a time piece or somewhere hidden in a tattoo but do your best not to do that. I always look at it this way, it’s like getting the Mona Lisa and then tagging “Mona Lisa” across the painting. Let your tattoo speak for itself.
What if something unavoidable causes me to be late or cancel my session?
I will work with you depending on the situation. I understand that everyone has lives and things happen, but if one of those things is you were out all night partying and you couldn’t get a full night of sleep, then you are out $200
Should I do anything to prepare for my tattoo session?
Just try not to party. Get a good night’s rest. Eat a sensible meal before you come in. Don’t come in drunk or high.
How long does it take a tattoo to heal?
Tattoos can take up to 30 days to fully heal. Some tattoos can heal faster than that depending on how well you take your tattoos and follow the aftercare instructions to the T.
